چکیده

In this paper we characterize the capacity of a UTRA-like Frquency Division Duplex (FDD) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system employing Loosely Synchronized (LS) spreading codes. Current CDMA systems are interference limited, suffering from Inter-Symbol-Interference (ISI), since the orthogonality of the spreading sequences is destroyed by the channel. They also suffer from MultipleAccess-Interference (MAI) owing to the non-zero crosscorrelations of the spreading codes. LS codes exhibit a socalled Interference Free Window (IFW) , where both the auto-correlation and cross-correlation of the codes become zero. Therefore LS codes have the promise of mitigating the effects of both ISI and MAI in time dispersive channels. Hence, LS codes have the potential of increasing the capacity of CDMA networks. This contribution studies the achievable network performance by simulation and compares it to that of a UTRA-like FDD/CDMA system using Orthogonal Variable Rate Spreading Factor (OVSF) codes.

Loosely synchronised spreading code aided network performance of quasi-synchronous UTRA-like TDD and FDD CDMA systems

It is demonstrated that loosely synchronised (LS) spreading codes exhibit a so-called interference-free window, where both the autocorrelation and cross-correlation of the codes become zero. Therefore LS codes have the promise of mitigating the effects of both inter-symbolinterference and multiple-access-interference in time dispersive channels. Hence, LS codes have the potential of increasing ...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

A Cordic Based Reconfigurable Cdma Equalizer for Long Codes and Its Comparison to the Rake Receiver

FIR This paper presents the implementation of a solely Cordic based linear equalizer for CDMA (including descrambling and dispreading) on a software defined architecture. The performance of this approach is compared to the Rake receiver. We formulate the different detection concepts in a common matrix notation and discuss their performance in an UTRA-FDD environment. Simulations confirm the pre...
